January adventures

Each year I choose a word and then I try to live it out for the next 12 months.  You can read about it here https://my30somethingadventures.wordpress.com/2019/01/07/my-word-for-2019-revealed/

and 2018 is here https://my30somethingadventures.wordpress.com/2018/01/03/my-word-for-2018/

2017 here https://my30somethingadventures.wordpress.com/2017/01/11/why-im-swapping-new-year-resolutions-for-one-little-word/

This years word is Adventure and I’m excited to do a recap at the end of each month mentioning the ways I incorporated this word into January.  Now before I continue please note that adventures don’t just mean expensive getaways – I’m looking into trying new things destinations, restaurants, experimenting with food, trying new gym classes etc  Then I’ll confirm if this is something I’ll do again or just a ‘tried that once and that was enough’

  • Hubby and I tried cooking a new pasta dish.  It was delicious – pasta shells and bacon drenched in a cheese sauce.  Will try again but with a different sauce as the cheese sauce was a bit rich.
  • We went to a restaurant we’d never been to before in Darling.  Enjoyable and the food was good.
  • I tried a new gym class – Pound.  Loved every moment and have done 3 this month.
  • Went on a hike in De Hoop and went to see the vultures up Potberg Mountain. Amazing experience.  Cannot wait to go back.
  • Tried a different wine instead of my usual rose.  Loving the Nederberg Stein I’ve discovered.
  • Read a book by a new Author.  Laura Marshall’s “Friend Request”.   You can read the review here.  https://my30somethingadventures.wordpress.com/2019/01/23/book-review-friend-request-by-laura-marshall/  Super creepy book that kept me guessing.

What about you?  Did you try anything new in January?

There is alot to be said for trying new things.  Wonder what February holds?

xx

  1. I keep hearing about the book Friend Request and have heard positive reviews on it! I am going to pick it up next time I’m in the library.
I tried a lot of new recipes in January. I received an Instant Pot for Christmas (I know, I’m behind on the times) and it’s my new favorite kitchen toy.

  2. I love that you picked the word adventure and I agree, it can be applied to many, many things… I tried two new recipes in January and they were both successes!

    • The more I thought about my word for 2019, the more I realized it can be applied to so many different things and I’m excited to try new things (and do a recap) each month.
Glad that both your new recipes went well and were successful! Always great to add a new recipe to a list of favourites 🙂

  3. Now I’m intrigued, what kind of class is pound? I read Friend Request and loved it – it had me guessing right until the very end. I made a new dessert – Tiramisu and found a new author – Martha Hall Kelly, her debut novel is called ‘Lilac Girls’ and it’s magnificent!

  4. Mmmmm, that pasta dish sounds delicious!

That new class you tried, does it involve weights, I gather? Sounds like fun! 🙂

Cheers to a great February my dear! Xo
