Navy holiday capsule wardrobe

We spent our anniversary and Christmas in Hermanus last month and it was fantastic.  Great weather, delicious food and fun celebrating with my <3.

I don’t know about you but packing lightly for a vacation is not always easy.  I like to be prepared and so I often end up packing far too much (and wishing we had a trailer).  However I was determined to get it right over the festive season and with a few items I put together my first holiday capsule wardrobe.

Brunch before lazing at the pool

This top was from Cape Union Mart and the shorts from Truworths.

Sightseeing before cocktails

This nautical dress is from Truworths and I teamed it with a pair of Gisele Bundchen flip flops I’d purchased years ago but still wear every summer.

Christmas lunch or date night

I got both the dress and shoes from Truworths and it can be dressed up or down with accessories or a 3/4 cardigan.

Top and shorts (both from Truworths) with Roxy slip slops.

Just a few items which lasted days, with key pieces which could be swapped and changed to suit the weather and occasion.  After all these years, I might finally be learning the art of packing less!

  1. I love these outfits! They’re making me long for warmer weather! They do look like they are easy items to pack and I bet they were nice and comfortable for your adventures! The first look with the navy top and white bottoms is my favorite. I am a chronic overpacker. I am trying to improve on that too though!

  2. OMG, I love this post so very much. AND ESPECIALLY that blue and white striped dress–it is ADORABLE on you! I swear, every time Bryan and I go anywhere, we have a fight about what to pack. It is the most ridiculous thing in the world, but I’ve become quite good at assessing my outfit needs on vacation, while he dumps his entire wardrobe in a suitcase. LOL, it is maddening. When we went to Ireland the woman at baggage claim looked at him like, “are these really all of your clothes,” and he was like, “okay, maybe I went overboard this time.” Ha! Anyway, thanks for the outfit inspo 🙂

    • Thank you Charlotte! That dress is one of my favourites. I’ve always overpacked when we go anywhere and finally now have the hang of it! We won’t be needing a trailer after all!
LOL at Bryan putting his entire wardrobe in a suitcase. The woman at baggage claim must have had a laugh! Mark usually says I take up most of the space in our suitcase so he has hardly any room for his clothes! I think last month was the first time our suitcase wasn’t overfull!
