Happy Friday!

New pic

It is the first Friday of 2019!  Hope everyone had a great week so far?  Wednesday was my last day on leave and I had a lot planned for the day.  Unfortunately woke up sick and the day was a write off.  Meh.  Yesterday was my first day back and it was super busy but it is amazing how quickly you get back into a routine.

Being Friday I’m linking up with the lovely Lindsay http://theflynnigans.com/ Charlotte http://mypixieblog.com/ and Beth http://coffeeuntilcocktailsblog.com/ with a weekly gratitude list.

  • Amazing time on leave.  Had the best anniversary and Christmas and loved being in Hermanus for both.  While we were away I ran my longest distance (just over 9 km’s) and am on my way to 10km’s now.
  • We did a day trip to Langebaan on Saturday and I got a nail treatment for my nails when I had a manicure.  They were damaged after having my previous gellish manicure removed last month.  It isn’t the gellish that damages it nails – it is how you have it removed and I’ve learnt my lesson!
  • Did an electronic declutter.  Went through FB and contacts on my phone and deleted where necessary.  It feels like a weight lifted off and I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner.  I’m over people trawling through my photos on FB and Whatsapp (who never have anything to add but collect likes and comments like a hobby on their own FB page).  Clicking unfriend felt great and I’m 100% unapologetic.
  • Feeling better after being so sick earlier in the week.  Won’t go into yucky details but so glad I can face a cup of tea again.
  • First day back at work done and dusted.

This weekend is going to be a quiet one.  We have some gardening planned for Sunday and I’d like to do some yoga.   We were thinking about going through to Langebaan but we’ll see.  I’m not quite feeling up to a long road trip at the moment.

Whatever your plans are this weekend – enjoy 🙂

Happy weekend, my sweet! Also I haven’t done one of those electronic declutters in a while, and they are SO GOOD for the soul ❤ Thanks for that reminder! Glad to hear you have been enjoying your anniversary and travel and hope you feel better soon. EVERYONE has been coming down with things around me, and I'm trying desperately to not pick something up.

PS: I learned that the hard way, too, re: gel manicures. I have one now I have to remove and I heard there's a trick with hot water and acetone? I'll let you know if it works!

I’m actually going to do a post on decluttering (physical stuff and the invisible things like emotional clutter we carry around) soon. I don’t know what took me so long to just do the digital detox last week – it felt great!

Thank you – we had a lot of fun on leave and enjoyed our time in Hermanus over our anniversary and Christmas.

I’ve never removed my own gellish manicure before so please share if the trick works! My nails took so long to recover after last month’s damage and finally feel a bit stronger. They felt dreadful afterwards 😦

I just did the friend list on FB and the pages I follow on IG and Twitter and it made such a tremendous difference. It’s amazing how cleaning up what you see on your feed changes the outlook on life when you really see funny or positive things all day versus the my life is shit/baby daddy drama/uneducated political posts/misogynistic memes/etc. It’s so great

It really makes such a difference. I went through my list and was amazed I hadn’t done it sooner.
And yes to funny or positive things on a timeline – it can brighten up your day instantly 🙂 I think this is why I love Goodreads so much – I enjoy seeing what everyone is reading and nobody posts 10 selfies a day or complains about their ex!

Hope your weekend has been good so far! I consistently do a FB declutter – it’s not a platform I use often but I’d prefer there are people who I’ve actually interacted with! Hope you are feeling better and have a great week ahead!

It was a great weekend – thanks! Hope yours was also good 🙂
I get what you are saying – there were some people on my list that I haven’t seen in ages, that never interact online but collect likes, comments and birthday wishes quite happily. FB is not about numbers for me – it is about staying in contact with people I’m interested in catching up online with (and vice versa).
All the best with the week ahead.

decluttering your social media is incredible; i unfollowed a ton of people on IG, FB and only follow family members who live in a different country ….and all of the dog social media accounts because let’s be honest here, animals are way better than humans.

Hey lady! I’m a little behind schedule. I hope you had a great weekend! I’m sorry to hear you were sick earlier in the week but glad you are feeling better! I’m also glad you had a great Christmas and time off! I do the electronic cleanse around this time of year too and I have to say it feels good and each year I feel a little less guilty about the things I’m letting go of! I hope this is a great week!

      Hey Beth!
I don’t know what took me so long to do the electronic declutter but it really felt great. Glad you feel less guilty about things you are letting go of – life is too short!
Hope you are having a great week so far – mine has been really busy and I’m already looking forward to the weekend 🙂

    Hello love,
So nice to hear you had such a lovely break. I’m sorry to hear you got sick but glad to hear you’re feeling better. 🙂

Oof I need to do a Facebook declutter, and matter of fact, should do Instagram as well. I’m sure there’s accounts I could unfollow. Thanks for the inspiration my dear. I’m gonna do just that. 🙂

Hope your week has been good hun. xoxo

I’m not on Instagram yet but I felt pretty good just doing it on FB and clearing out my contact list on my phone. I still need to unsubscribe to e-mails that are just taking up space – one step at a time!

I’m so glad that whatever I had was over in a couple of days – not a great way to start the year feeling so dreadful! xoxo
