This has been a week that won’t make the list of favourites. My Mom was back in hospital – everytime I think she is sorted, she has another health scare.  Thankfully she was able to leave yesterday and is back at home after a course of serious antibiotics.  She’s had 4 stays since December excluding times she’s gone in but was able to leave the same day.  So I’ve had a heavy heart this week and haven’t blogged much – just haven’t been in the right space.

However it is Friday and I’m linking up Lindsay Charlotte and Beth with my Friday gratitude list:

  • Going to Cape Point over the weekend.  Hadn’t been in so long and even though it was pouring with rain, it was awesome to visit.
  • Shopping day with a friend on Sunday.  Bought jim jams, slippers, a cardigan, thermal top and pumps.  Got some amazing discounts on the pj’s and cardigan.  We enjoyed lunch out in between the shopping which was fun.
  • Rain – every drop that goes into our dams is a blessing.
  • Sushi on Monday night.  Had dinner with a friend from work and her cousin who I hadn’t seen in ages.
  • Date night on Tuesday.
  • A clean home.
  • Ran 4km’s after work on Thursday.  Last thing I felt like was going to gym, but it felt so good afterwards.
  • Meal planning and enjoying healthier dinners Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Enjoying Goodreads – I love seeing what others are reading – please let me know if you are on there.
  • Started a new book this morning called “The break down” by B A Paris. Only 30 pages in and cannot put it down.

I love Beth’s OLW for the year which is nourish and after this week I need to do a lot of this myself.  Just unplug and unwind.  So that is the theme for this weekend.  We are having lunch out tomorrow and hopefully we can play squash on Sunday. The weather is supposed to be cold and rainy so there will be no cycling.

It is pouring with rain at the moment and I’m going to go make a cup of tea before tackling the afternoon.  Got some things to do before hometime and then the weekend can begin!

What about you?  What is on your gratitude list right now?

  1. Hey girl! Thanks for the shout out, I’m glad you love the word nourish and that you are going to take steps to do that for yourself this weekend. You’ll feel so good for doing it. I always smile when I see sushi on your list, you are a girl after my own heart. Sushi makes me happy too. And I could use a good shopping trip like the one you had! Been trying to watch my budget though lately. Sigh. Have a great weekend my friend!

    • Thanks Beth – this weekend was so chilled and I did so much reading and tea drinking (finished a book on Sunday that I started on Friday). It was great and I need to keep your OLW in mind for stressful times because it something we all need to do!
Oh I love sushi – seriously I think I could it eat every day and still crave it!
Hope you had a good weekend – I need to catch up on your blog (I’m a bit behind). Have a great week.

  2. Ugh, I am sorry to hear your mom is still dealing with health issues. It’s so emotionally draining to be in limbo all the time. I hope she’ll be better for good now.

And heck yes for making it to the gym…. I regret this workout, says no one ever! 🙂

    • It is so emotionally draining and by Friday I was just totally exhausted. I’m hoping that she is finally on the mend now and her body can get a chance to recover from all she’s gone through.
I really had to push myself to get to the gym last Thursday but I was so glad afterwards. As you say “I regret this workout, says no one ever” – SO true!

  3. Nourish is a great word, and I’m glad you’re focusing on that this weekend. We all need it sometimes – and when it’s rainy and wet, it’s nice to just relax and refuel yourself. I’m glad you had some things to love this week – though I’m sorry to hear about your mom. I’m glad she’s home now!

    • I love the word too – I’m grateful that Beth shared it with us at the beginning of the year. It is something we should all do and I really needed some time over the weekend to refuel! I read loads and it was awesome. The weather has been so cold by us – we have snow on the mountain.
Thank you – we are just hoping my Mom is finally on the mend now. I’m so glad she is home.
Hope you had a good weekend. I sent you a message on Goodreads about a book I read over the weekend 🙂

  4. I’m so sorry to hear your mom had another scare. I’m sure that’s stressful. I’m glad you found some good deals while shopping though. Hope this week is better to you, friend! ❤

    • Thank you Lecy – we are just glad she is home and hope that she is now over all these scares. Very stressful each time she lands up in hospital.
I hope you had a great weekend and I’ll catch up on your blog soon. I always enjoy your newsletter and want to know more about the 31 things challenge ❤

  5. I’m so sorry to hear that you mom had a health care and I hope she feels better soon. I hope you had a great time at Cape Point.

  6. Oh hun, I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she’s doing better…. but four times since December?! Wow!
Sending well wishes and happy thoughts to you and yours. xo

    • Thanks Lindsay. Each time I think she is getting better, she is back in hospital. I wish they’d get a second opinion – my Mom has gone for extensive tests – very frustrating that she is still getting such bad back pain. xoxo
