If we met for coffee

I always enjoy these sorts of posts which Lecy https://asimplergrace.blogspot.co.za/ does.  One writes about what they would discuss if they met a friend for coffee.  Any thoughts or concerns are shared and it is an enjoyable way to open up about what is on your mind.

If you and I met for coffee, I’d opt for hot chocolate – it warms me up instantly and I have quite a sweet tooth.  We’d talk about how cold it has been lately and I’d admit that in the past I used to dread winter and the cold temperatures.  Recently I’ve decided to embrace it and just enjoy the current season.  We so desperately need the rain and we’ve been fortunate that our dam levels are increasing while getting the much needed rainfall. We’d talk about the good things that are often overlooked in winter.  The way tea just tastes even better.  Putting on winter pajamas after a hot shower. Getting comfy in front of the tv while sitting under blankets.  The cosy feel of the kitchen when I bake on a cold rainy day.  Delicious curries and stews and soups.  We’d focus on the positives instead of complaining how difficult it is to get out of bed in the mornings!

As our drinks arrive, I’d tell you that I’ve gotten back into my creative writing recently.  I often do the NaNoWriMo in November (National Novel Writing Month) but yesterday I just started on something new.  With my blog, I haven’t spent much time doing any creative writing but last night I typed out a few pages and look forward to continuing.

We’d order something sweet to go with our warm drinks and I’d choose a lemon meringue.  As we wait for our treats, I’d tell you that I’m trying to get back into shape but exercising is difficult in winter.  It seems easier to find an excuse than look for my running shoes and get to gym.  Once I’m there, it is fine but the cold weather tires me out and makes skipping a workout seem like an easy option.

As we finish our cake, I’d tell you that I am still not finished with my new blog and I know I need to work on it soon. I know how I’d like it to look, now I just need to set aside time to get it ready.

We’d settle the bill and agree to meet soon.

  1. I love all those things about winter too – warm pjs after a warm bath or shower are the best. And you are right, tea does taste better in winter! After some of the heat we just had I wouldn’t mind escaping to your cold weather for just a little bit anyway!

  3. Oh gosh, getting up and exercising can be SO difficult in the winter. I’m glad you are trying to find joy in some of what winter has to offer though. It can be really nice to just cozy up under blankets and relax. 🙂

  4. So happy to hear you’re getting some rain. I know what it’s like to wish for rain after a drought period (California is in the same boat).

  5. All your winter talk makes me jealous 😉 Although getting in shape/staying in shape is HARD during the cold months!
I need to get better at cutting out time to creatively write (other than my blog). I have lots of stories that need developed and finished!
