Friday gratitude

New pic

I’m always happy when Friday rolls around but sometimes it seems to take extra long for this day to arrive!

Earlier this week my Mom went in for more tests.  She had to have a bone marrow biopsy and we are awaiting the results.  Waiting is the worst but I’m hoping and praying that the news is good.

We got some rain this side and last night the wind picked up and howled for hours. Woke up around 1:30am.  Again at 4:30am.  5:10am.  Today is a day where tea needs to move aside – I need coffee and lots of it!  We are exhausted to say the least but I feel we cannot complain when we get rain – the dams need it so badly.

My gratitude list for the week:

  • My Mom being open with us about her health issues.  Usually she likes to protect me from worrying and I only hear about things afterwards (or often only when she is in hospital).
  • Getting great weather for our day trip last Saturday to see the Quiver Trees.
  • Dinners at Cattle Baron. I love their burgers.
  • Running 4km on Sunday.
  • Being on top of laundry and housework.
  • Reading “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle and realising the importance of being mindful.
  • Rain this week.
  • Saying no and not feeling guilty.
  • Getting a box of Lindt chocolates as a gift.
  • My hubby and his patience.

This evening we need to go grocery shopping for the weekend and tonight we are making a curry for supper and I’m really looking forward to it.  This cold weather is perfect for it and I cannot wait to get home, showered and comfy.   We were hoping to go cycling but everything depends on the weather.  I’d like to see Melissa McCarthy’s new movie and we are planning a dinner at Cattle Baron so this weekend will be fun rain or shine!

What about you?  What is on your gratitude list and what are your plans for the weekend?

I’ll be thinking good thoughts for your mom! And good for you saying no to something and not feeling guilty about it! I’m getting better at saying no, but sometimes the guilt is still there! I hope you enjoy the movie if you go, it looks like a good one. Have a great weekend!

Thank you Beth – my Mom was supposed to get the results on Monday but her appointment has been postponed because some results are still outstanding.
At first saying no was a challenge but now it is getting easier as I get older.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far.

Thank you Trish – my Mom has been in hospital quite a few times since December last year. Each time I’ve heard about it after she’s been admitted and I was extra upset and worried!
I highly suggest reading this book – it has been such an eye opener.
Hope you are having a great weekend so far.

Saying no and not feeling guilty is huge! Such a relief too! Sending prayers to you and your mom. My father did the same thing when he was sick. Also, high five on being caught up on laundry that’s awesome! LOL .

Thank you – it has been so difficult each time I’ve heard my Mom is in hospital (after she’s been admitted). This is the first time my Mother has been open about her health (before going for tests) and now we just wait for the results. I’m sorry you went through the same thing with your Father.
Hope you are having a great weekend so far.

I hope your mom’s tests are positive. That’s good she’s keeping you in the loop though; I’d hate to learn things last minute. Yay for getting some much-needed rain, though sorry it kept waking you up! I had some crazy storms yesterday afternoon, so thankfully not in the middle of the night.

Thank you Lauren – I am really hoping she gets them soon and that they are good. Each time I heard she was in hospital I didn’t know how bad things were and thought my Mom was getting better. They are a couple of hours away so the distance doesn’t help.

I hope you had a wonderful birthday earlier this week and got super spoilt.

Thank you! I’m a beginner at running (5K is the longest I’ve run so far) but I was pleased with the 4K run 🙂
Yes it is difficult when family keep health issues to themselves and I’m relieved my Mom is now being open about it.

So…. I’m catching up from last weeks blog post. Shame on me, I know. LOL.
I’m relieved to hear that your mom is being more open with you guys, I know you worry about her and then get a miffed when she hides things from you (and rightfully so!). We don’t worry about our loved ones for no other reason but for that we CARE and I hope your mom is seeing that. You’re just concerned that’s all… I haven’t read any of your posts from this week but hope to read an update on her.

Good on you for putting your foot down and saying NO. It’s so empowering, isn’t it? And running 4 kms?! You go girl! I am not a runner whatsoever but I wish I was.

Hope you had a good week love.

Hi Lindsay, hope you had a good week (and weekend). My Mom’s test results came back and they were clear – such a huge relief! She is waiting for one more test but isn’t worried because it is something that can be sorted with a course of meds (if it is positive). We are hoping that she is now on the mend – been a hectic few months – she has been admitted to hospital 3 times since December and it is worrying. I’m glad my Mom is being more open about her health – it was very upsetting each time hearing that she was in hospital (after she’d been admitted). As you say, we worry because we care and it is so hard when one doesn’t know the full story.

Yes saying no is very empowering! I’m trying to increase my running but for now 4k seems to be my limit 🙂
