Friday musings

This week was a good one.  Had an awesome date night with Hubby on Tuesday.  I went to gym and started running again.  Ate healthy meals.  Slept better than I have in months.  The scale took note of me putting my running shoes on and not eating a packet of biscuits just because it was in the kitchen cupboard.

So all in all it was good.  And it is about to get better because today is Friday and the weekend is exactly 2 hours and 10 minutes away.

Each Friday Lindsay Charlotte and Beth  host a link up called What’s up weekend?  Bloggers take stock of what made them happy during the week and it is a wonderful way to start the weekend as we share our gratitude lists.

This week I have lots to list, so let me get started:

  • An amazing time in Hermanus – stayed in the penthouse at our favourite hotel on Saturday night.  I’ll do a post next week but in the meantime will say I am grateful for the lovely getaway Mark planned for us.
  • 2 x 30 minute runs after work this week.
  • Date night with my love on Tuesday
  • Doing a guest post on Lecy’s blog

This was the first time I was a guest on a blog 🙂  Lecy explained everything perfectly and it was wonderful to share something creative with other bloggers.

  • Wednesday evening was just one filled with contentment. Did grocery shopping and came home and chilled on the bench in our garden.
  • Mark planted a tree in our garden and it finishes it off perfectly.
  • Hot chocolate – yes I know it is summer but I love hot drinks all year round
  • Getting more sleep. Haven’t been sleeping great and it was wonderful waking up feeling refreshed rather than utterly exhausted.
  • The wonderful blogging community that I’ve been fortunate to join. When I started my blog it was just a little creative space for me and I feel so blessed to have gotten to know fellow bloggers in the process.
  • Healthier meals this week.  Been experimenting with different vegetable and chicken stir-fry combinations – delicious.

Hubby and I are going out for dinner tonight, tomorrow we are having a braai and I’ve got shopping with a friend on Sunday so a good weekend is just waiting for 4:00pm to roll around.

What are you grateful for this week?

  1. Way to go on your runs (and guest post!!). You have had a lot to be grateful for this week. Mine is just time with my family. I always love spending time with them.

    • Thank you!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend with your family.

    • I find taking the first step is the biggest – then it gets easier from there 🙂
Hope you had a wonderful Thansgiving.

  2. LOVED your gratitude list and really enjoyed reading your guest post over at Lecy’s blog this week! Looking forward to seeing where the story goes (and other creative writing from you!). Hope you are enjoying what’s left of the weekend and I agree–hot chocolate really is delicious year round 🙂 XOXO

    • Thank you – I don’t often share my creative writing but am glad I did in the guest post 🙂
Hope you had a great weekend. It seems so far away now – nearly time for the next one!
Hot chocolate is such a treat!

  3. Oh yay, so glad to hear you’re a fellow runner. It sounds like you had a really good week… and you know working out and healthy eating is all good, but there HAS TO BE the occasional hot chocolate 😉

    • I’m really enjoying the running so far and any advice you have is welcome! I’m thinking of getting a Garmin watch and not sure what to look out for.
Hot chocolate is my decadent treat – I feel I deserve it after a super long day 😉

  4. Hey sweetie,

I wished you lived closer. There, I said it. Sounds like a wonderful little getaway with Mark that he planned. How thoughtful of him. 🙂 You guys sound so romantic. How did you meet, anyways?

I’ve been getting much more sleep this last month and I’m not exhausted and dead to the world every single day. It could be better but that’s definitely an improvement for me. Baby steps. 🙂

Sandra’s a good one to talk to if you want a smart watch for runners. I’ve got a Garmin as well but I think hers is one of the fancier models that gives you split times and all that other stuff. I don’t have that because I’m not a runner and didn’t need all those features. I’ve had my Garmin for almost a month now and I’m loving it. Try some on, too. Some of them are massive and if you have tiny wrists, you may be more inclined to go with one of the smaller screen versions.

Hope you’re having a great week love. xoxox

    • Hi Lindsay,
      Wish you lived closer too!
Yes it was a lovely getaway and we came back feeling super relaxed. Mark and I were neighbours while we were growing up and we got together when I was 19. Got married when I was 23 and it was literally to the boy next door 🙂
I’m keen to get a Garmin soon – Mark has just gotten one and it is super cool. There are so many features!
Glad you are getting more sleep – it makes such a difference to your day.
Hope this week was a better one for you and you have a wonderful weekend.

      • What a beautiful love story. 🙂 I met Jeff when I was 18 and he was 25 at a mutual friends house. We consider it special because that friend later died two years later and it could’ve very well been that we never would’ve met. 🙂 We were inseparable. I had booked a solo trip to Mexico two weeks after I met him and spent $600 talking to him on the phone every day from Cancun. LOL!
Thank you my dear. xo Getting more sleep has definitely been a good thing for me. 🙂
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
